CREATIVE SIDE EFFECTS
Newton turning over in his grave!
Every action may have
An equal or unintended outcome.
An awkward conversation
May lead to smiles and a relationship.
A silent presence in a gathering
May lead to a silent acknowledgment.
A stone thrown into a pond,
Creates ripples much after it has sunk.
We may look at the outcome
Or worry about the lack of it.
Our creation is put out there in the universe
As we expect a linear return response.
Most people wait for applause.
But creativity whispers through its ripples, not its echoes.
A butterfly flapping its wing here,
May cook up a creative storm in another continent.
Maybe even space.
Side effects.
We fear them when we needn’t
As they never are in our control.
We sway along
In the wake of what we have created.
Some of these effects
Help us find the new us
Leading to more splashes from our work
And more concentric waves
The best side effect?
The Psychology of Shameless Creativity
Ripple Effect Bias: We expect linear impact. But creativity moves like water — indirect, delayed, unpredictable. What you release today may change a stranger next year.
Unintended Consequence Insight: Not all value is visible. Some outcomes reveal themselves only after you've moved on. That doesn’t mean they aren’t working.
Echo Drift Principle: Feedback isn’t always immediate or loud. Creation is energy in motion, its return path often invisible, but real.
