WAITING FOR THE MUSE
The myth of "Inspiration Strikes"!
When the mood strikes
When the gears click
When the stars align
When the moon shines
When will this when come
Nobody has an idea
For fire to rise
A match must strike
Or a stone with a stone
Desire with action
In that friction something comes up
Not a genie, not a muse
Definitely not the mood
A blob, a creation, a straw man
Sparks that crackle
Yet not fire up immediately
Constant rubbing though
And a bit of blowing
Breaks the myth of inspiration striking!
What we need
Is what we already have
Within
And around us
The act of forcing ourselves
To write the first word
Miraculously bring the second
Before we know it a page is done
It’s the same with any art form
Or creativity
Like the cycle which is the engine
And the mover
We are our own spark
Our own fire
Murder the mood
Or train it to appear
Whenever I call
My own mind-made muse-genie
Which mood will you activate today?
Right now!

The Psychology of Shameless Creativity
Activation energy: The brain resists starting. But once the smallest action is triggered, dopamine kicks in. The muse is motion.
Progress momentum: Finishing the first sentence, even badly, builds perceived capability.
Motivation illusion: Research shows we act first, and the feeling follows. Waiting for inspiration? That’s reverse logic.
