SPRINT AND REST
Walk. Trot. Canter. Gallop. Rest!
That’s what a lion does
So does a cheetah
And your neighbourhood dog
Everyone isn’t all creative all the time
There are phases of manic creation
Followed by silent rumination
Then some more of that madness
to run again
The key remains to ship it out
And start the next one
Run.
And when running, run wild
When you rest, chew the cud
Enjoy the moment
Recharge those imaginary batteries
So when the time comes to run again
You push forward with everything you’ve got
Like Austin Kleon said, and I paraphrase,
“Be a (Creative) chain smoker”.
Use the closure of one work, to start the next.
Keep the flame burning.
Walk. Trot. Canter. Gallop.
That’s what a horse does
Maybe not in sequence, but isn’t that a beauty
Just watching it run!
At the scent of an idea, chase.
At the snap of a thought, leap.
At the twitch of a thought, create.
Awaken the inner animal runner in you.
Frantic. Frenetic. Fun filled.
