Just say NO. Reclaim Yourself!
Just say no. Do not accept it. Spit on it!
When you want to do something
There will folks talking about various topics
Painting a picture of why you cannot, should not
Some will bring the latest woke culture phenomenon as the reason
Others will invoke privilege, nepotism
A few will involve in whataboutery
Their only purpose is to slow your growth first
Then stall it
This will be done through the various roadblocks in front of you
The most dangerous one is when they change
The signboard to reroute you elsewhere
Or talk about goalposts even when you’re playing a different game
What if you reject the premise
Refuse to listen to them
And let your work do the shaking
An earthquake of creative work
Emanating from you like lava from a volcano
Brushing through all the hurdles in front of you
All by saying NO
I am my own person
And I know what I want to create, when and how
So create I will
You can shove the premise up your…
The premise is like drugs
Say no the first time
Say no every time.
(Start by saying No. And then a YES for my upcoming book, How to be an Outlier!)
The Psychology of Shameless Creativity
THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SHAMELESS CREATIVITY
Premise Trap: The brain craves ready-made frames (“This is how it’s done.”) because they reduce mental effort. Rejecting them feels uncomfortable but is exactly where originality starts.
Authority Bias Override: We’re wired to obey authority or group consensus. Saying “no” rewires that instinct, proving to yourself you can choose your own path.
