STARING AT FAILURE
That sinking feeling...
That sinking feeling in the stomach
Dry mouth but sweaty forehead
The world moves in slow motion
You find your mind spiralling down
The work gets critically panned
Friends are equally brutal
Was it really so bad…
You begin to wonder
Is my best behind me?
Is my tank empty?
Have I hit my creative quicksand?
Marathoners know this well
Each runner is different
And they all hit the invisible wall
The mind’s cruel invitation to quit,
goading you to give up.
At that point of seemingly no return
A few decide to trudge ahead
Through that wall
Breaking free
Isn’t our mind and mood a sine wave then,
Up and down, deeper curves deeper still.
We will stare at that failure wall of self doubt
The only way out is to break through
Smashing it away through one more creation.
The Psychology of Shameless Creativity
Sinewave Syndrome: Creative energy isn’t linear. Highs and lows are cyclical, not final.
Failure Freeze Bias: Our brain registers public failure as threat, triggering avoidance. Creation is the only antidote.
Micro-Proof Loop: A single act post-failure restores agency faster than reflection or praise.
